| Date:
26th May
Venue: Slug and Lettuce, Islington
Time: 5-7 pm
Pre-press/web services
The meeting at the Slug and Lettuce is taking
shape.
No speakers confirmed but there is an update
on two previous presentations.
David Parker from Pelagon has explained how
JDF could be part of their software:
"Pelagon uses XML so there is no problem
in relating to JDF
specifications. However there needs to be real demand from a
number of
print sites to identify the parts of the JDF spec that would
make
sense for detailed implementation. This is likely to happen
within the
next year, for example with KPG."
The JDF possibilities with Acrobat 7 have not
yet been well explained.
Maybe people will be there who have explored it a bit.
There is now an example form on the defra website.
Previously David
Stevenson has explained the new Adobe approach to server software
with
defra asa UK example. Reader Extensions supports added functions
in
Reader 7. It is working with the form for the Higher Level Stewardship
Farm Environment Plan. Many pages with check boxes etc.

So the meeting will be about time travel, from
pre-press and the
'portable job ticket' to the web services from e-government
that may
arrive soon.
The site will be updated as I am getting as
much feedback online as
definite replies that people will attend.
