Classic Publishing moves to India
Following the restructuring around Adobe and Macromedia, there is a new
business unit in India for 'classic publishing'. More detail will emerge
later so there will be revised versions of this article. The main impression
so far is that the original Adobe project around Postscript and PDF is no
longer at the front of priorities. Macromedia concerns around Flash for animated
web design and mobile devices have more of a future in marketing presntation
from San Jose.
The word 'classic' is possibly like the word 'legacy' for some computer people.
It sometimes means those stores of content you might want to switch to something
else. Postscript sales to OEM partners have been fairly flat for a while.
This is now included with 'classic publishing' together with Framemaker and
Pagemaker as well as Freehand.
