BBC TO CLOSE GOOD HOMES MAGAZINE
BBC Magazines is poised to close its 11-year-old monthly title Good Homes magazine due to a slump in circulation and ad revenues
Peter Phippen, managing director, BBC Magazines, said: "I am very sorry to announce that, after much deliberation, we are proposing to close BBC Good Homes magazine. As the last set of ABC figures showed, the declining housing market has had a particularly adverse effect on this title and we cannot see how this might change in the near future."
17 jobs are to go as a result of the closure. Good Homes, which launched in May 1998, had a peak circulation of 151,763 in 1999. Its latest ABC figure in the period between June and December 2008 was 97,725 - a fall of 23% year on year.
