COPYRIGHT IN THE DIGITAL AGE
The Stationers Company has launched a website www.copyright-debate.co.uk to mark the anniversay of the enactment of The Statute of Anne
10 April 2010, marks the 300th anniversary of the enactment of The Statute of Anne which for the first time introduced legislation creating a legal right to Copyright. The Act came about as a direct result of the work of The Stationers’ Company over the previous 153 years.
The Industry Group, under its Chairman, Under Warden Nigel Stapleton, is marking the key role The Stationers Company has played in the evolution of what is now a vital concept for the creative industries worldwide with a series of events during this year, the first of which is the publication of a website which has been unveiled to mark the 300th anniversary.
Future plans include a printed academic publication, published in the autumn by Wildy and Son, followed by an academic conference and open forum on Monday 8 November.
