THE SUN TO PUBLISH 3D ISSUE

The Sun is to publish a 3D edition with 3D colour ads and editorial, including Page 3, a week before the start of this year's World Cup

The News International-owned red-top is to be the first national newspaper to run ads and editorial in this format. The one-off title will be published on 5 June, when Sun readers will see parts of its editorial, including Page 3, ads and a World Cup Fixtures Wall Chart in 3D. Sun readers will receive a pair of 3D glasses with the paper.

It is understood that advertisers will have to pay a significant premium if they want colour ads in 3D.The Sun is understood to be supporting the issue with a TV campaign running in May.

It is also thought to be upping its print run by hundreds of thousands of copies on 5 June.The 2010 World Cup in South Africa will be filmed in 3D for the first time. Up to 25 of the games will be captured using 3D cameras.
